Add the listed fiber lengths using a consistent unit and compare the total with the approved allocation. Review preferred length per reel separately from total fiber-km. If mixed reel lengths or a variation from the request is proposed, record whether that arrangement is acceptable to your production team.
Avoid inferring total length from a nominal reel capacity or a photograph. Use the stated allocation and resolve discrepancies with the supplier before approval.
Connect the list with labels and reports
The reel identifier should provide a path from the physical material to the applicable specification and quality information. If the report uses a different identifier, obtain the mapping. If a revised list replaces a previous allocation, determine whether the supporting documents also need revision.
At shipment and receipt, compare the appropriate identifiers on the agreed records and the delivered material. Keep the list with the order documents so a later production issue can be investigated at the correct reel level.
Check the status of the list
Ask whether a list is a historical example, a proposed allocation or the final shipment list. Those purposes are different. A reference workbook can demonstrate terminology and layout without indicating available stock.
Request the actual list and applicable quality records for the offered batch. If the information is needed before order or shipment approval, state that timing in the procurement request.
